This my 3rd in smart wearables. Earlier I've tried Garmin twice, but once its displays went off and another time the band itself broke.
Another thing, frankly, my phone not being Samsung I was a bit skeptical to buy this watch. But to date, I've never faced any sync issues with the watch even though the phone not being Samsung.
If you're worried that the watch is big, it most definitely is, but don't worry, it doesn't look bad at all - it looks classy. I don't have a big wrist, but still, it looks great.
For the rest, I'll give you the pros and cons, the things I considered before buying this watch.
Pros:
-Call functionality (directly from the watch!!) is simply awesome and works flawlessly. My phone just needs to be connected to the watch but I can take the complete call from the watch. It has a speaker and a microphone and comes out hand many times when I am busy writing or when my hands are busy.
-Messaging - this works flawlessly too. It's not just about reading messages, replying to them is so easy.
-As Samsung is pretty old in this, there are tons of faces and apps you can download and install on your watch. There is no end to it.
-Health tracking is pretty decent (pics attached). Step count seems pretty accurate. I've manually counted and checked many times. I found it good that it does not add up false steps while I am writing, typing or driving. It has some technology which waits and checks that I am truly walking.
-Inbuilt GPS - I've not been disappointed with this, plus you can have maps directly on your watch for navigation too.
-Music!! - Now, this was a surprise, it has a good volume if you want to listen to music directly from the watch.
-Settings - Just like an android phone, it's so easy to access the settings - simply swipe from the top of the screen
-Display - The display is crystal clear, good and crisp. It's sharp. I even watched a couple of videos on my watch.
-Visibility in sun - It's great, no issues at all. The brightness can be controlled from settings.
-The turning Bezel - This is something which really attracted me towards this watch that I can browse and do things without actually touching the screen.
-Screen response - The touch response is as good as any smartphone. Haven't faced any lagging issues.
-The altimeter and Barometer may not be spot on perfect but are very close to actual values
-The inbuilt heart rate monitor seems alright, although can't be sure of the reading, but seems about normal to me. It shows normal values when a, just sitting, and does change and increase when I workout. I'm no fitness freak and don't bother much about this. But having this is just nice.
-Sleep monitoring and analysis are awesome. It is very accurate. Even if I remove it at night, it somehow syncs or does some interaction with my phone is about accurate as to when I slept or when I woke up. (Being in a habit of checking the phone as the last thing at night and 1st thing in the morning, there might be some algorithm that might detect it, as I keep it connected with the phone.)
-Even though I always keep it connected with my phone, I don't see a quick battery drain either on the watch or on the phone. So looks like the Bluetooth is pretty economical in consuming battery and would not hamper your phone's batter either.
-Buttons - It's good to have a back and home button and both are very responsive.
-Lift to wake - This feature has never failed for me till now. I lift my wrist and BAM! the watch is on.
-Wireless Charging: well, I love the magnetic wireless charger and thankfully it has a detachable wire which can be replaced simply by any micro usb cable. The phone snugly sticks onto the charger.
Cons
-Size: Well, this is somewhat a con because I won't say you'll wear it 24 hours a day. No matter how awesome, you'll want some rest and would want to remove it for some time. You are definitely not going to sleep with this on.
-Battery - Well, it lasts about 3 days for me with always connected to the phone. Not sure if it's a con, but I'd like it to last at least a week.
-Weight - It's a bit heavy, (as it is big too). Although I've gotten used to it, it's not something that you'll wear and forget that you are wearing it. But then again, it's not a band, it's a full-fledged watch.
-The box is too simple, plain and bland for what it has inside.
-Charging time: In today's world when time is of the essence, it takes at least 2 hours to completely charge the watch, which I don't like, unlike my phone which just charges up to 70percent and minutes, and complete charge in less than an hour.
All being said, I've loved it for what it is and enjoyed using it for the last 20 days. I've been on a trip on the mountains and enjoyed the Altimeter and Barometer. I have a calendar and a calculator on my wrist now, very easy to access just by a turn of the bezel. At home, when I have my watch on, I just don't need my phone.
